DIY Face Mask Recipes for Natural, Vegan, Plastic-Free Skincare

 On a tight budget this month? It doesn’t mean your skincare routine has to suffer. An at-home-spa treatment made with ingredients you can easily find at your local supermarket or health store, can still mean soft, nourished & hydrated skin. 

For a variety of skin types, these DIY face mask recipes are a perfect way to nourish your skin without breaking the bank. Raid your kitchen, make and use the mask fresh. Don't forget the cucumber slices and Do Not Disturb sign!

 

  1. Oatmeal & Almond Milk Soothing Mask

Best for: Sensitive or irritated skin
Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp oatmeal
  • 1 tbsp almond milk
  • 1 tsp maple syrup
Instructions:
    1. Blend or grind oatmeal into a fine powder.
    2. Mix with almond milk and maple syrup to form a paste.
    3. Apply to your face for 10-15 minutes, then rinse gently with lukewarm water.
      Benefits: Calms redness, soothes irritation, and hydrates sensitive skin.

     

    1. Avocado & Coconut Oil Hydrating Mask

    Best for: Dry or mature skin
    Ingredients:

    • ½ ripe avocado
    • 1 tsp coconut oil
    Instructions:
      1. Mash the avocado until smooth.
      2. Add coconut oil and mix well.
      3. Apply to your face for 15 minutes, then rinse with warm water.
        Benefits: Deeply moisturizes and nourishes dry, flaky skin.

       

      1. Charcoal & Aloe Detox Mask

      Best for: Oily or acne-prone skin
      Ingredients:

      • 1 tsp activated charcoal powder
      • 1 tsp aloe vera gel
      • 1 tbsp water or rosewater
      Instructions:
        1. Mix all ingredients into a smooth paste.
        2. Apply to your face and leave for 10 minutes. Rinse with cool water.
          Benefits: Clears impurities and soothes inflamed or acne-prone skin.

         

        1. Cucumber & Coconut Yogurt Cooling Mask

        Best for: Combination skin
        Ingredients:

        • ½ cucumber, blended or grated
        • 2 tbsp coconut yogurt
        Instructions:
          1. Combine cucumber and yogurt until smooth.
          2. Apply to your face for 15 minutes, then rinse with cool water.
            Benefits: Refreshes and hydrates while balancing oil levels.

           

          1. Turmeric & Maple Syrup Brightening Mask

          Best for: Dull or uneven skin tone
          Ingredients:

          • 1 tsp turmeric powder
          • 1 tbsp maple syrup
          • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar (optional for oily skin)
          Instructions:
            1. Mix all ingredients into a smooth paste.
            2. Apply to your face and leave for 10 minutes. Rinse with warm water.
              Benefits: Brightens dull skin and helps even out skin tone.

             

            1. Green Tea & Rice Flour Exfoliating Mask

            Best for: Normal to oily skin
            Ingredients:

            • 1 tbsp cooled green tea
            • 1 tbsp rice flour
            • 1 tsp agave syrup
            Instructions:
              1. Mix ingredients into a paste.
              2. Gently massage onto your skin and leave for 5-10 minutes. Rinse with warm water.
                Benefits: Exfoliates dead skin cells and rejuvenates the skin.

               

              1. Pumpkin & Agave Glow Mask

              Best for: Normal or dull skin
              Ingredients:

              • 2 tbsp pumpkin puree
              • 1 tsp agave syrup
              • A pinch of ground nutmeg (test for sensitivity)
              Instructions:
                1. Mix all ingredients thoroughly.
                2. Apply to your face for 10-15 minutes. Rinse with warm water.
                  Benefits: Enhances radiance and gently exfoliates.

                 

                1. Strawberry & Coconut Cream Refreshing Mask

                Best for: Oily or acne-prone skin
                Ingredients:

                • 3 ripe strawberries, mashed
                • 1 tbsp coconut cream
                Instructions:
                  1. Mix until smooth.
                  2. Apply to your face for 10-15 minutes. Rinse with cool water.
                    Benefits: Gently clarifies and softens the skin.

                   

                  1. Aloe & Rosewater Hydrating Gel Mask

                  Best for: Dehydrated or sun-exposed skin
                  Ingredients:

                  • 2 tbsp aloe vera gel
                  • 1 tbsp rosewater
                  Instructions:
                    1. Combine aloe vera and rosewater.
                    2. Apply a thin layer to your face for 15 minutes. Rinse with cool water.
                      Benefits: Soothes and rehydrates tired or sun-exposed skin.

                     

                    1. Banana & Oat Flour Nourishing Mask

                    Best for: Dry or sensitive skin
                    Ingredients:

                    • ½ ripe banana, mashed
                    • 1 tbsp oat flour (blend oats to make flour)
                    • 1 tsp olive oil
                    Instructions:
                      1. Mix ingredients into a smooth paste.
                      2. Apply to your face for 15 minutes. Rinse with warm water.
                        Benefits: Softens and nourishes dry or flaky skin.
